This entry counts for Beach Party Jello Shots!
if you win any of these sooshes, I have the separate files for each so you can note me for those!

well, here it is
i really wanted to draw sushi dogs in summer clothes though i admit, those clothes were meant for people lol
i also thought it would be fun to write a short story along with it! (though i'm not very good at writing rip)

--

"Yami!" Umi poked the small, sleeping rabbit awake. Yami was enjoying a nice, quiet nap by the sunny beach, and was less than happy to have been woken up by his sushi dog friend. "Yami, I know what our big adventure today is gonna be!" Yami thumped his foot on the ground furiously, kicking up little clouds of dust as he did. "Whoa, whoa, I know! I'm sorry for waking you up! But this is something you're gonna enjoy." Yami stopped his stomping, intrigued. Umi would always say her adventures would be 'bucketloads of raw fun' or 'an amazeninger experience for the whole family," but if the activity were not up his alley, Umi wouldn't say it was. The soosh would never lie. "So, I bet you're wondering what it is..." The brown and white bunny nodded. Umi pulled up a large bag from behind her, and dug through it with her snout. She pulled out what looked like a blue blanket, with a littler blanket. For a mouse, perhaps? Yami tilted his head in confusion. "Can't you tell what that is? Don't you remember? It's from when we tried to sew! I figured out all the kinks and finished it up." Umi raised her chin proudly. The dress was quite well-made, a simple sleeveless dress, hemmed with a shiny white thread. "But that's not all, Yami..." She pulled out a few more pieces of clothing. Some dark glasses, a pink shirt, denim shorts, and a one-piece swimsuit. She laid them out on the towel, careful not to get any sand on them. Yami hopped to each one, sniffing it and admiring the work of his friend. "Guess you wanna know what we're doing with them today, right?" Yami looked over at Umi and nodded.

"We're going to have a summer-themed fashion show!" Fashion show? Yami liked the sound of it, but it was quite out of the ordinary for Umi. With little exception, Umi's adventures were rough, wild, and loud. This adventure was none of those things, though, depending on how many sooshes were there, and how excited they got about fashion, maybe that third one. "Yeah, it's a little quiet and kinda floofy, but I can make anything fun!" Umi puffed up her chest. "My clothes are cool! Ant guard, hot coat door. Did I say that right?" Yami didn't bother to correct her, though, even if he did bother, he couldn't really vocalize like a soosh could. "There's one problem, though." Yami, now concerned, perked up his ears. "I have three outfits. Well, I'm obviously going to wear one of them, 'cuz I worked hard, but I can't really wear all three at once." Yami nodded in agreement. That would be a catastrophe. "We're gonna scope out those babes with model potential!" Umi barked. Yami's ears drooped. This was not what he had in mind.

Umi pranced around the beach, Yami hopping close behind. Umi glanced, inspected, and sometimes invaded the personal space of many sooshes just trying to enjoy the Sushi Dog Summer Resort. She'd probably investigated at least two dozen sushi dogs and cats now, but to her, they always lacked something. One had an awkward gait, or looked bad in the colors she had. One even was just a centimeter too short. At this rate, Yami knew Umi wouldn't find anyone. "I found someone!" Nevermind. Yami hopped over beside Umi, to see a green, kind of shiny sushi dog. "You're perfect!" Umi shouted, her tail wagging as if it had an engine.

"Huh?" The sushi dog was taken aback by Umi's behavior. "Thank you, but... huh?"

"I said you're perfect! You've got model potential, Fishie." Umi placed a paw on the sushi dog's head, patting them.

"My name isn't Fishie, it's-"

"No time for introductions, Fishie! We're putting together a fashion show, and we need it all ready by the end of the day!" Umi frantically yipped at 'Fishie.' "Now, answer this question please! What's your food?"

"Mermaid wate-"

"Perfect!" Umi's loud and frequent shouting caused several heads to turn. Some sooshes giggled while others grumbled at her disturbing the peace. Yami was just embarassed, not doing anything. Umi then took out the blue dress and bow from earlier. She held some of the fabric up to the blue bandana that the mermaid water soosh had. "Hah! A perfect match, plus, blue's just sooo good with your complexion."

"Really?" The green pup's tail began to wag a little bit, a smile appearing on her red-cheeked face.

"Would I ever lie to you?" Umi did her best to look innocent, but as a result, she looked fairly suspicious.

"Well, I don't know y-"

"That's what I thought! Well, you wanna wear this dress for my fashion show? It'll be great!" Umi bounced up and down with excitement. The other soosh glanced at Umi's rabbit. Yami nodded vigorously to her, trying to get the message to her that if she declined, Umi might continue to bother her. The mermaid water sushi dog then turned to Umi and accepted her request. "Thank you so much!" Just put that dress on, and tie that mock bandana where you think it would look nice. Individuality is important in this show!" Umi waited as the mermaid water soosh slipped on the new attire. They found it quite comfortable, and decided to follow Umi. Umi continued searching for models in the same invasive matter as before, mermaid water watching awkardly. Umi then froze in her tracks as she saw a brightly spotted sushi dog bounding through the waves, headbutting a beach ball to a yellow and brown cat.

"A swimsuit model." Umi whispered. Yami fell face-first into the sand.

Umi called out to them, multiple times, as the waves were loud and the sooshes were focused. Eventually the new sushi dog noticed, signalling to their game partner that they'd be finished playing. The two waved to each other, before going their separate ways. The sushi cat pulled on their goggles and dove into the ocean, while the dog that Umi had called out to came to meet her.

"Hi! Did you need something?" The spotted pup wagged their tail, greeting Umi.

"I do! I noticed that you'd make a great swimsuit model!" Umi yipped. The sushi dog then stopped wagging their tail, not out of anger or sadness, but pure confusion. The mermaid water soosh, watching from a distance, couldn't help but giggle. They could relate very much.

"Sorry?" The sushi dog tilted their head.

"Don't be sorry! Do you want to be in a fashion show, wearing..." Umi pulled out her one piece. "This?" The spotted sushi dog nodded their head, eager for a new activity this summer. "Alright! That settles it. By the way, what's your food?" Umi inquired.

"Oh, I'm the edible bubbles sushi dog. My name is-"

"Put this on!" Umi cut off the edible bubbles soosh, handing them the swimsuit rather forcefully. Yami thought that she might almost be interrupting them on purpose. The newcomer pulled on the one piece, with a little bit of trouble, but found it fit them pretty nicely. "It's nice, isn't it? It's designed to be aerodynamic, for the serious swimming soosh!"

"It would be perfect for my friend, then!" The edible bubbles soosh laughed. "Where's the fashion show?" Umi froze.

"Um." Yami buried his face in his paws. Umi could be absent minded sometimes, but to forget something like this? Yami worried that her plan would go down in flames. Ready to comfort her, he bounced over to her. However, she then spoke up. "I-it's at the... uh... the beach house! The one up on the hill, it looks over the ocean. The one where sooshes sometimes stay!" Umi's voice was unsteady and uncertain at first, but it grew louder and more confident as she spoke. Yami agreed with her last-minute decision. The beach house was fairly popular, and no one owned it, so parties were often held here. Last he checked, the beach house's schedule was clear. The bunny found himself excited for what Umi was planning.

"Cool! When's it starting?" Yami almost expected Umi to freeze again, but she seemed to know exactly what she was doing this time.

"Right now! The sun's starting to go down, maybe putting up fairy lights will make the show better! They're actually probably already up. Those fairy lights sure are popular." Umi stopped herself from going on a fairy light tangent. Yami knew that she could be surprisingly knowlegable about the most mundane of things. "Come on, guys!" Umi started marching down the beach towards her destination, shouting out about the fashion show at the beach house. As she went, a few sooshes joined the line, following her to the show. As soon as the group got there, Yami helped herd the little dogs into the audience area while Umi quickly put on her clothing. From behind a pillar, Umi shouted out that the show was to start. Umi, the mermaid water soosh, and the edible bubbles soosh all strutted down the patch of grass they declared the runway. As they came up, one by one, Umi talked about the clothes they were wearing, how they were made, and how great they were for summer. Though the show was short, all three sooshes went home with a new experience to share.

Very cute entry, one of my favourites here. It took me a little bit long time to write this comment, because I had to read the whole story under the image. So - idea of the fashion show is great and I love it so much, all the Sooshes are drawn very well and every single character has separate personality. The story shows that Beach Party has some type of 'strong personality', she can be annoying sometimes, we can see it in relationship with Umi's animal companion; but she also knows what she want and she finally turns her project into reality and others become like it too. Character is built very interesting and - I wish You a lot of good luck and - have a wonderful week.
